I See the Light
This year on vacation, we decided to check out a lighthouse, way up almost on the tip of the peninsula in a state park. It was set in a state park and was well kept.
There was a fee to go inside to tour the lighthouse so we decided not to go in. Instead, we checked out the grounds.
There was a former fog house building that had been turned into a museum.
It was fun to look at all the artifacts they had inside.
There was a model of the lighthouse...
...a fun navy outfit...
...and other various things that belonged to the light keepers and/or light house.
Outside the museum, there was a telescope that you put a quarter in to view across the lake. Obviously, I had to check it out.
Then, we decided to walk down and inspect the beach...
...where I enjoyed the view...
...which i found very peaceful and resting.
On the little hike back up to the lighthouse we came across a woodland creature. He seemed harmless enough. He was just a baby toad/frog.
The walk up from the beach afforded us a great view of the lighthouse.
Once up by the lighthouse, I managed to run into a bit of trouble. I spooted a salty sea gull in a boat.
Stealthily, I stalked him; he was clueless it until I was right up on him.
He was churlish at first, but eventually came around. No one can be mad at me; Mr.Penguin brightens everyone’s day. I have yet to meet anyone who can resist my penguin charms.
On the way back to the car, we stopped in at a gift shop. It sold the normal tourist trinkets, but there was a separate room I found interesting.
It had a sign, teaching you how to tye nautical knots...
...a neat model boat..
...and best of all, this impressive lego model of the lighthouse.
