Weekend at the Beach (Part II)

Photobucket

Finally, I’m able to finish my beach getaway post. On Saturday, the woman and I woke up early and went outside to sit on the balcony while the man slept. The woman read through the local attractions, getting ideas for the day.

I just stared at the nearly empty beach.

After breakfast, the man and woman prepared to spend most of the day on the beach. I stayed behind to guard the room. It was really hot and sunny outside; I’m glad I was enjoying the shade of the balcony while the man and woman sweated it out on the beach. There were a bunch of guys parasurfing. It looked liked a lot of fun. I wanted to try it out, but the man and woman said I was too little.

The man and woman returned about 4 hours later when the man felt crispy, or was crusty the way he described it? I can’t remember; it may have been crunchy. It was nice to have them back for company. We sat on the (covered) balcony to enjoy the day away from the scorching rays of the sun.

The man and woman decided on sushi for dinner. I was not allowed to go. I only have a shirt, no pants, and some people might find it offensive that I’m not wearing pants. But they promised to bring me some leftovers, which they did. Yum.

However, they did not bring me back one of the monster 33 oz beers they enjoyed while eating, guess it was too big for a little penguin like me to drink by himself.

Photobucket

That’s alright, I still remember my incident with the tequila.

We all had a nice weekend. I was sad when it was time to go home, I didn’t want to leave.

Maybe if I’m good we can do it again soon.

Rainy Days

Photobucket

I'm so glad I had a weekend full of sunshine and gorgeous weather because as soon as we got home it has been nothing but overcast, gloomy skies and rain. We really needed the rain and it was nice to have a couple days off from watering my garden. The man says that this rain will really boost the growth rate of my plants. I sure hope that is the case. This rain does makes for great napping weather and, needless to say, Mr. Penguin has been very lazy since returning home. He's still working on the post from the rest of his beach trip and will be posting it later this week.

Weekend at the Beach (Part I)

Photobucket

All last week there were whisperings and murmurings between the man and the woman. I couldn’t quite hear them, and when I asked them what they were conspiring about they told me not to worry about it, that it was nothing. Then Friday, around noon, the woman pulls out her suitcase and starts packing. Instantly, my curiosity was piqued but the woman told me that it was a surprise. I saw some beach towels and figured water would be involved in our destination. Then the man comes home from work, much earlier than usual and then I’m packed away and put in the car. A couple hours later I emerge from the suitcase at the beach! Mr. Penguin could not conceal his delight.

The man and woman had booked at hotel room for us right on the beach; we were even lucky enough to get an oceanfront room with a balcony. Most of the rooms here just have juilette balconies, basically a balcony rail on the bottom of the window. While the man and woman settled in and decided what to do, I came out to sit on the balcony and watch the ocean and the people.

We ended up just chilling at the hotel. About 9pm we started hearing drums and voices. At first I brushed it off as nothing, just a bunch of kids running around. But after 20 min we could still hear the sounds. The woman and I came out on the balcony to investigate. It turned out to be some kind of fire dance show. People were gathered in a circle on the lawn watching a bare-chested man dance around twirling fire sticks.

Photobucket

There was another guy banging a tall, bongo-like drum. I wonder what that was all about. The man says I’m nosy, but I just like to know what’s going on. It’s not my fault I have an inquiring mind.
I must stop here, I'm still worn out from spending all day in the sunshine. I'll post part II soon.

Wish You Were Here

Photobucket

The man and woman surprised me with a weekend get away to the beach. We have a great ocean view room. Mr Penguin is looking forward to his weekend of sand and surf and can't wait to blog about his adventures here.

Happy Cinco de Mayo

Photobucket

Happy cinco de mayo to all. Unfortunately I don’t have a fun outfit to wear today; no sombrero nor poncho, which I think would help get me in the mood. The only thing I could find that was even remotely Mexican in theme around here was this bottle of tequila. While the woman was busy preparing for tonight’s Mexican fiesta, I snuck away with the bottle to take some photos and write a blog post. Everything was going well until I had one too many shots of tequila. Ay dios mío; now my head is spinning and my stomach is churning. The woman heard my moaning and this is how she found me:

I thought the she would scold me but all she said was the way I’m feeling is punishment enough. Mr. Penguin’s advice is enjoy cinco de mayo but go easy on the margaritas. I’m off to take a siesta now.

Emperor Penguin’s New Clothes

Photobucket
My naked strike has ended. The man finally ordered me some clothes:

I have my own flannel (like the man’s):

A shirt from the man’s alma mater:

and from the woman's alma mater:

And my absolute favorite, my very own nightshirt:

This hasn’t left my body since putting it on. It’s so comfortable. Now that I have clothing options, I will focus my attentions on getting the man to take me on a vacation somewhere so I can show them off....hopefully no strike will be necessary.
