Mr. Penguin's Plea for an iPad3
I'm sure all my fans have noticed, and been upset, that my posts have become infrequent. Well, I'm here with the solution (and a plea to the Man). I think an iPad3 is just what I need. Let me plead my case:
Point 1: It is very hard to type with flippers on computer keyboard; I doubt these flippers would have any difficulty manipulating a touch sceen.
Point 2: I could stream my tv shows and movies when the man takes over the tv to play his video games.
Point 3: By the touch of a few simple apps I can keep my friends and fans instantly updated via twitter and facebook status, no matter where I'm traveling (or not traveling).
Point 4: I can send e-vites to my friends to my fancy cocktail parties
and most importantly,
Point 5: If I had an iPad3, I would be able to stop pestering the Man for one, and I wouldn't need the (unreliable)Woman to be my stenographer.
If anyone can think of any other points to argue my case, by all means, let me know so I can add them to my list.

Vacation Countdown
Well, it's almost time for Mr.Penguin's summer vacation. It's about a month away. I happened to look into my vacation fund bank, and noticed it's pretty low. I was hoping to have an ipad so I could stay in touch with my fans. But it looks like I'm not going to have enough money for one by August. Look like my perchant for cocktails has taken it's toll on my savings fund. Guess I need to go on a buying freeze from now until August.

Happy Derby Day!
This post is short because I'm posting it and it's hard to type with flippers. I'm all ready for the Kentucky Derby. I'm getting started early with my mint julep. My pick to win is Twice the Appeal. I think, if my pick wins, my prize should be an ipad2.

Treats For My Sweet
Happy February, friends. This past weekend the man and woman got a package ready for my special lady. We’re sending her our digital tv converter so that she can watch tv while being snowed in during this record breaking snowfall year. Once I heard a package was being sent out, I had to throw in a few things of my own; after all, she is my lady.
I included an assortment of snacks (great night food), some valentine’s day treats, as well as a card, made by yours truly. I even lent her a few dvds to watch when nothing good is on tv.
Everything fit perfectly in the box, then all I had to do was tape it up and address it.
I’m a bit concerned that it’s delivery might be delayed due to inclement weather. I hope this post doesn’t ruin the surprise; it's supposed to arrive today.

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year
Mr.Penguin is getting into the holiday spirit. I got the tree up and decorated this past weekend and I'm working on busting out the Christmas songs. I don't know why the man and woman are so reluctant to embrace the holiday cheer. Perhaps it's because it's not cold and snowy down here in the south. Hopefully, they will eventually come around. Mr.Penguin is ready to start the holiday baking, but, sadly, the woman is not as eager as I am.
Yesterday, I had the woman help me with a new holiday background for my blog. After a few hours and multiple failed attempts, we finally got it to work. Mr. Penguin thinks he should get the woman some blog editing classes for Christmas. But with her crazy, drug-addled brain and lack of focus I feel like it would just be a waste of my hard-earned money. I suppose I’ll have to send myself instead, then I won’t have to rely on her or the man to help me out with my blog and things would get posted a lot sooner.
On a side note, Mr.Penguin was very distressed earlier this week to hear of his special lady’s knee injury. Mr. Penguin just wants to remind everyone that he is a highly skilled care-taker and has acquired a lot of experience nursing the woman on her bad days. He could be dispatched immediately to help care for anyone who is ill and requires the talents of a practiced nurse. Of course, it would mean leaving the sickly woman to care for herself during the day, which I don’t think she would like very much. But she needs to learn to care for herself if she doesn't get well soon. So, my lady, let me know if you need my assistance, I'll catch the next plane headed north.

Tasty Treats and Helping Out
With Thanksgiving fast approaching this week, the woman has been busy planning out our feast. Thanksgiving is the man’s favorite holiday, so the woman has taken it upon herself to make all his holiday favorites, so he will not be cheated out of any of his favorite foods.
Since the woman has been sick and the man is away at work all day long, the burden of cooking for this feast falls upon Mr. Penguin’s [very capable] shoulders. The woman mapped out all the dishes she needs made for each day this week and gathered together all the recipes for me.
The kitchen was a disaster, so first I had to do the dishes and wipe the counters.
Then began the long marathon cooking session. I’m an expert at time management and was able to accomplish more than what was on the woman’s list.
I was even able to make some tasty little treats. I sampled one, but didn’t dare eat anymore. I didn’t want to get caught. Besides, these are the treats that will be served with after dinner coffee on thurs.
I'm tired and I'm ready for a well-deserved break. I'll have to go to bed early, because tomorrow I'll be doing more of the same thing.

Salude
Continuing with my northern wine tour, these were the other wineries we visited on vacation. This day was better than the first day, in my opinion. Overall, the wines were better and the wineries had more character.
This winery was pretty cool. It was in an old schoolhouse. There were huge windows all along either side of the building, and the interior was absolutely charming. They had a lot of cool antiques as well. The wine was pretty good; I liked the School House Red.
Moving on to the next place.
Outside, the grounds were beautiful.
The interior was also nice, and the bartender friendly. Perhaps a little too friendly toward my lady.
This winery also had brandy samplers. This pear brandy was their specialty. There was a pear in each bottle. At first I assumed it was some kind of trick or optical illusion, but upon closer inspection it appeared to be a real pear.
I wondered how they accomplished this and asked the bartender for more information. He showed us pictures of how they do it, they grow the pear in the bottle. How clever is that.
The final winery was a sleek, modern building set high atop a hill.
It had the most amazing view of the lake.
The wall behind the bar was all glass, so you could enjoy the view as you sampled the wine. I really liked the bright wall colors and all the natural sunlight.
On a side note, let me fill you in on how I was treated at these wineries. Naturally, Mr. Penguin was feeling a bit tipsy from all his wine tastings. The man and woman were concerned about me behaving myself in the different wineries so they would try to stuff me away.
I didn’t protest too much because once inside the winery, I snuck out to sample the wine. Mr. Penguin is very tricksy like that.

Farmer's Market
Early on during the week of our vacation there was a local farmer’s market in town we decided to check out. I once had hopes and dreams that my garden would yield enough produce for me to have my own booth at a farmer’s market. Well, that is not going to happen this year but I still wanted to check it out and take notes for future reference in case I ever decide, one day, sell my produce at a farmer’s market. Also, the man wanted some blueberries.
Mr. Penguin is short and it was hard for him to see all the exciting things at each kiosk on his own. Luckily, there were quite a few volunteers who lifted me up and carried me so I could see all the wares.
We got to sample different things vendors were selling, like some tasty desserts (the kiosk sold baking mixes)…
..and local honey.
It wasn’t all just produce.
In addition to food there were also flowers...
…homemade aromatherapy soap, lotion and oil...
…hmmm, can’t remember what this one sold, but they were giving out free samples of whatever it was.
There was a kiosk that had some fun knitted/crocheted hats, and I have been wanting a hat for awhile, but they were all girlie hats, none of them suited for a sophisticated penguin such as me.
At the jewelry tent, I got to help pick out the perfect necklace for a my special lady friend (the man says I am too young to have a girlfriend, so, for now, she must remain my 'special lady friend'). Mr. Penguin has impeccable taste when it comes to fashion.
The stone is a Petoskey stone. What is a Petoskey stone you may ask (as I did upon first hearing of it)? It is the state stone, the fossilized remains of a coral bed that was located here 350 million years ago. Once polished these stones are worth (at least locally) a lot of money. A large stone, about the size of a cantaloupe will run about $400. You can learn more about the Petoskey stone and the history behind it here.
By this time we were pretty hungry. Luckily, there was a baker selling delectable pastries and baked goods.
I split one with my lady friend…
...it was the perfect accompaniment to my coffee.
Unfortunately, the market wasn’t very big, so it didn’t take us long to see everything. Gathering up our purchases we headed back to the house, with Mr. Pengin, of course, traveling in style.
